The Comic

For this project we were put into groups of three, one designer and two illustrators. We were given a nursery rhyme and asked to create a comic about the story, our story was The Crooked Man. We started thinking of inspiration, the conjuring etc and decided that we were going to do it all in black and white.
I started out looking at fonts that would fit the vibe of The Crooked Man. I liked the font Great Primer a lot as it felt aged and historical. I also messed around with letraset but didn't really like the style I got from.

I created a layout for us to fill in with Katie and Louis' illustrations, after we all sat down and planned out what was going where and which story beats we were going to use.

Final Design

When Katie and Louis would send me the scans of their drawings, I would usually up the contrast and get rid of the exposure to make the drawings look more digital and so that there was not much difference between who drew what. I alos added some textures to the backgrounds using some photoshop brushes, to connect the two pages and make it look more seamless.
